Layout Track Plan

The total floor area of the L-shaped Club space is about 2000 square feet. Six viewing windows along the west wall allow visitors to the Antique Car Museum of Iowa to view activities within the space. A Display Layout is located in the northwest section and has a double-track dogbone loop that is separate from the track for the Club Layout. Push buttons on the Car Museum side of the wall allow visitors to run the trains on the Display Layout.

The Club layout is designed to allow prototypical operation and has a Midwestern theme in an era that is flexible. Benchwork is based on the L-girder method. The subroadbed is ½-in. plywood, and the roadbed is ½-in. Homasote. Track is Walthers and Atlas code 83. The Northcoast Engineering (NCE) digital command control (DCC) system is used to operate trains. Train lengths of 15 ft can be accommodated in staging, yards, and passing tracks.
